2021 CECCO ROSSO D'ITALIA
TRY ME IF YOU LOVE: Chateauneuf-du-pape / Cote du Rhone
ABV: 14.0%
GRAPES: Barbera, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon
TASTING NOTES: Deep ruby red with violet tinge. Fruit-forward nose of red cherry, raspberry, blackberry and plum, a hint of spice and earthy undertones. Medium-bodied with bright acidity and soft tannins. The palate pops with fresh red fruits, including cherry and cranberry, balanced by darker fruit flavours such as blackcurrant and blackberry. There are also subtle spicy notes of black pepper and a light herbal edge. The acidity keeps the wine fresh and lively, making it easy to drink with a smooth and refreshing finish.
PAIRS WITH: Perfect with pasta. Meat or mushroom sauces, meat and game in general, mature cheeses.
SERVE ME: Room temperature.
The “Il Poggiarello” winery produces wines in the village of Scrivellano, nestled in the hills of the Trebbia Valley. It's philosophy is one centred around four words: territory, uniqueness, simplicity and ambition. They aim to produce unique wines, which are an expression of the territory: sincere, genuine, capable of moving. And capable of telling the story of Piacenza outside of Piacenza....
Winemaker Paulo's watchwords are respect for nature and love for the vineyards. The vineyard has been certified organic since 2018. They us zero pesticides, only organic fertilisers, with the use of biodegradable materials, attention to microclimate, exposure and soil. Minimal intervention in the winery feeds into the idea that with grapes like this, wine is made first and foremost in the vineyard.
