GRAPES: Rkatsiteli, + others

TASTING NOTES: Eastern Georgian, natural, unfiltered wine. No additions whatsoever. It’s savoury and highly textured with a good amount of tannin yet pretty approachable for this style of wine. Beautiful honeyed nose and a nutty finish. Made to be drunk with food.

PAIRS WITH: Try with mild cheeses or Souvlaki.

SERVE ME: Cold, pop it in the fridge for a couple of hours.

Georgian amber wines vary hugely, some are delicate & floral while others are quite dark & savoury, with significant tannin. Each style is dictated in large part due to the amount of time spent on the skins, while fermenting and during the aging process. The famous amphorae known as qvevri are the magic vessels that help create this transfer of colour, aroma, flavour, and texture, allowing the wine to develop more personality earlier in the winemaking process.
