2021 Ploussard, Chambines
2021 Ploussard, Chambines
ABV: 11.5%
Grapes: 100% Ploussard
From: Jura, France
From a marl-rich Ploussard site and aged in tank for 6 months. Heady and bright with red fruit and earthy minerals and a beautifully fresh finish.
Expressive, Intense but still oh so light, this is such a treat
A former apprentice of some of Burgundy’s elite winemakers (including Nicholas Faure, Charles Lachaux, and Amélie Berthaut), Benjamin Benoît has ascended to the Jura’s upper echelons at an astonishing rate. While many producers in the region blend their parcels, Benjamin favours site-specific bottlings of Chardonnay, Savagnin, Trousseau, Pinot Noir, and Ploussard – the latter of which he bottles as five individual cuvées. Fermented with ambient yeasts and aged in old oak barrels, the results are pristine whites full of citrus flavours and racy freshness and haunting, floral-edged reds.
Lighter bodied red you could drink with a slight chill. Would go well with roast white meats, meaty fish and red sauce.
