2021 St. Magdalener Schiava
2021 St. Magdalener Schiava
ABV: 12.5%
Grapes: Schiava, Lagrein (5%)
From: Alto Adige, Italy
Velvety and elegant, with bright red plums and raspberry and a light overarching perfume.
If you like a light Beaujolais and Pinot Noir try this.
Colterenzio is a cooperative of 300 winegrowers in Alto Adige with a philosophy of high quality produce but also working in harmony with nature. State of the art architecture and technology in the cellar means they operate sustainably and we are, to a great extent, energy self-sufficient. A photovoltaic power station now covers 55% of the energy requirements of the cellar, where most of our machinery and computers are used. Through solar panels and heat recovery systems, they meet 70% of their hot water requirements. Traditional varieties of the St. Magdalena sub region; Schiava and Lagrein are traditionally grown together. This east facing vineyard sees them neighboured on soils of eroded quartz-porphyry mixed with sand and clay.
Slightly chilled if you fancy it. Pop it in the fridge for 30 mins. Great with charcuterie and pizza.
