2022 SP68 BIANCO
2022 SP68 BIANCO
TRY ME IF YOU LOVE: An aromatic Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling or Viognier
ABV: 11%
GRAPES: Muscat of Alexandria, Albanello
TASTING NOTES: Notes of white flowers, pink grapefruit, lychees, herbs and spices. Wonderfully light on the palate. There’s some maceration on the skins giving it a bit of tannic grip and a slightly olive like savouriness at the finish.
PAIRS WITH: Light dishes, salads and pretty much any seafood but amazing with an octopus salad.
SERVE ME: Cold, pop in the fridge for a couple of hours beforehand.
Arianna Occhipinti is the niece of COS winemaker Guisto Occhipinti, so has winemaking in her blood.
Her estate lies near to Vittoria, just off the SP68 road which lends its name to some of her wines. Guided by her uncle, she's been making wine here for well over ten years now.
I was lucky enough to visit the winery this year and have to say its absolutely stunning (her family also has a few architects in it) well worth a visit if in Sicily. Super interesting exploring the non-interventionalist approach she takes in the cellar, allowing the wine to find its own space.
