GRAPES: 100% Chenin Blanc

TASTING NOTES: Bone-dry with flavours of crunchy green apples, white peach, a hint of dried herbs, and zesty lemon pith. With refreshing minerality and zipping acidity,  unfiltered so slightly cloudy in the glass.

PAIRS WITH: Light dishes and salads, shellfish, salty cheese.

SERVE ME: Nice and cold, pop in the fridge for a couple of hours

After travelling extensively in Portugal and Austria learning his craft, Craig Hawkins returned to South Africa and became the winemaker at top Swartland estate Lammershoek.  Craig now makes his own Testalonga wines from various small, organic vineyard sites in Swartland and makes everything naturally, with as little intervention as possible. 'Baby Bandito' is his easy drinking, entry-level range.

The Chenin is whole bunch pressed and fermented in 2000 litre stainless tanks and follows the natural pattern of no yeast (or other) inoculation or additives apart from a small amount of SO2 shortly before bottling. A pure style of Chenin, balancing “nerve” and white flesh fruit character.
