TRY ME IF YOU LOVE: Pinot Noir
ABV: 12.0%
GRAPES: 100% Blaufrankisch
TASTING NOTES: A very approachable natural light red made from Blaufrankish that really packs a punch with flavour. Dark cherry red, with a bright nose of blackberry fruit and a smooth, supple palate. The tannins are soft and the finish is spicy and fruity, not at all funky.
PAIRS WITH: Charcuterie, poultry, red meat
SERVE ME: Just below room temperature
Judith Beck studied in Bordeaux and Chile before returning to her native Austria to take over the family winery. The estate covers 15 hectares in Gols in the Burgenland region. The farming has been biodynamic since 2007, and the focus is on native varieties, although they sprinkle in a few international ones here and there. Healthy soils are encouraged through the formation of humus, sulphur usage is minimal, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Beck’s wines represent some of the best value in the region.
