TRY ME IF YOU LOVE: Orange wine

ABV: 12.0%

GRAPES: 100% Chenin Blanc

TASTING NOTES: Subtle on the nose for a Chenin with notes of peach, orange and spice. The palate is tightly wound with dense fruit, great texture and a savoury, lightly grippy finish. A wine of great complexity despite its subtlety. 

PAIRS WITH: BBQ Chicken, fish or vegetables.

SERVE ME: Nice and chilled, pop it in the fridge for a few hours.

After travelling extensively in Portugal and Austria learning his craft, Craig Hawkins returned to South Africa and became the winemaker at top Swartland estate Lammershoek.  Craig now makes his own Testalonga wines from various small, organic vineyard sites in Swartland and makes everything naturally, with as little intervention as possible. 'Baby Bandito' is his easy drinking, entry-level range.

From Boschgassfontein, aka the old Observatory Vineyard, planted in early ‘70s. With soils consist of old decomposing granite interspersed with quartz. Fermented with 5 weeks skin contact and lots of lees stirring.
