The Lazkano family have been making wine in the Basque Country for a century. When they began in 1923, the aim was to make wine for the home, distributing any leftovers to neighbouring villages, but they’ve expanded considerably since then, now comprising 23 hectares of sustainably farmed, pergola-trained vineyards. Their spritzy, dry Txakoli is the perfect partner for the region’s abundant seafood. They mainly grow Hondarrabi Zuri, the traditional grape in Txakoli production, with a sprinkling of the rare Hondarribi Beltz and some Chardonnay.
