TRY ME IF YOU LOVE: Pinot dominant Champagne
ABV: 12.0%
GRAPES: Pinot Meunier 45%, Pinot Noir 43%, Chardonnay 12%
TASTING NOTES: Refined stone fruit, crunchy red apples, herbs, hints of green tea and chamomile. There are rich, creamy, fine bubbles to the medium length, and nice freshness combining with spice and minerality. I love the fact that Meunier is the highest proportion this year, and was blown away on tasting it.
PAIRS WITH: Anything out of a fryer
SERVE ME: Nice and cold pop in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Langham Wines are all about quality, using only estate-grown, hand-harvested fruit for their trad-method bubbles. Each base wine is crafted with indigenous yeasts, extended ageing, and regular bâtonnage in a delightful mix of stainless steel, concrete, and used French barriques. Oxidative techniques and blending from a variety of complex base wines are the secret behind Langham’s distinctive style and there is minimal use of sulphur and low dosage too.
Culver is their Pinot dominant blend, named after the cretaceous chalk strata the vines are planted into. It shows the power and richness of its two red varieties, with an opulence and depth that helps it to pair wonderfully with food.
